The Valiant Summit came has left a huge impact on the comic book industry. There seems to be no stopping this company after its revival in 2012. Valiant writers such as Matt Kindt, Jeff Lemire, are some of the most dedicated workers in the comic industry proving that Valiant Comics is showing more and more that they are true contenders.
A plethora of news came out about all flagship titles that we have narrowed it down to 5 Things You Should Know About the Valiant Summit.
1. Shadowman to return in 2018!
Thats right people! Your favorite Darque Powered Valiant character is slowly making his way BACK into the VCU (Valiant Comic Universe). We’ve all missed Jack Boniface since his departure into the Dead Side. It’s been over 4 years since Shadowman’s last series and over two since his last miniseries which was entitled End Times.
The journey of Shadowman’s return, which started in issue 10 of Matt Kindt’s run on Ninjak, we will have a miniseries with that title. Shadowman and other characters in the “Rapture” event begins this May. It maybe the last time we see John Boniface til March, 28th of 2018, but who knows!
2. Ninja K instead of Ninjak
Since Matt Kindt run on Ninjak, we established that Colin King’s agent name is officially Ninja K. Hints: NINJAK! Shortly after this moment, we venture into the world of an assassin but never really tap in the other agents that he is affiliated with. This is about to change for the character in November of this year. Writer Christos Gage and Artist Tomas Giorello, will be slicing their way into a HUGE first issue explaining the entire program all the way up to Ninja K. That means we’ll be getting 40 pages of Samurai sword using, shuriken throwing, ninja smoke popping and fun!
3. Time Travel and Pocket Universes
What is a comic book universe without time travel in alternate dimensions? We didn’t know it, but the Divinity series, which started in February of 2015 was leading up to the epic climax known as Eternity. AND, what better way do venture deeper into this god couple that now has a baby then to travel into a pocket universe? Kindt already naming 25 new characters to join the VCU, guaranteeing one hell of a ride in October of 2017. On the other hand, Faith will be doing her time travel adventure in Faith and The Future Force, teaming with Neela Sethi, Timewalker. Faith will be saving us all from a adorable AI Robot that threatens our and other alternate timelines in August with Jody Houser at the helm.
4. Classified
… It’s classified BUT we do know something is coming in September!
5. Quantum and Woody
The leaked news of the Russo Brothers working on a Quantum and Woody show was bound to have a return of the worst superheroes ever! Creative team Daniel Kibblesmith and Kano forcefully bring Eric Henderson and Woodrow (“Woody”) Van Chelton back together due to there bracelets that make them see each other every 24 hours to survive. Does this mean our horrible team will take action once again? For the characters of the VCU, I really hope not cause the trail of destruction is the biggest when it come to these brothers. As for the TV details, we did find out that there is some casting ready for the show and is close to being green lite. So make sure to watch other for both.
There was so much more that was brought to us at the Valiant Summit 2017. Bloodshot will be receiving a double timeline book, Archer and Armstrong will be seeing the day of light once again in Valiant, X-O Manowar will officially be traveling the stars in this new series. Out of everything though, the most important aspect of the Valiant Summit was what Dinesh Shamdasani, what said to everyone that reads these comics. It’s not about the money grab, it’s about the passion and love for comics. Making sure to hire writers and artists that love the characters as much as the reader does.
The Valiant summit was not only about announcing what is happening in the coming year, it was a proclamation to the fans that Valiant hears and see what they love and will continue to produce the quality the reader’s deserve.
