What was your first Cosplay Experience?
Funny thing is, I had no idea what cosplay was in middle school. I just dressed up as characters I loved. It was till I got to high school I found out this activity had a name. In my daily outfits, I would try to emulate characters from shows, books and video games. My first “official” cosplay wasn’t till last year. I moved from alternative fashion and pin-up modeling to cosplay, since it’s always been a love of mine.
How long have you been Cosplaying?
Legit cosplaying: For about a year, maybe a little more.
What is your favorite cosplay you have worn/created?
I get this question a lot and it’s always the same answer; Seras Victoria from Hellsing. I love the character and I relate to her on so many levels. Starting off as just a bubbly eye candy, when she is actually a strong willed woman who has a horrendous past. Wearing her uniform makes me feel confident and strong. Like Seras has shown over and over again.
If you had unlimited resources, what Cosplay would you create?
Can I have the skill as well? Haha. That’s a very hard question to answer. It might have to be Astharoshe Asran Duchess of Kiev and Viscountess of Odess from Trinity Blood. Those of us who have read the manga, know that Trinity Blood is known for its crazy amount of detail. Astha not the most elaborate of outfits, but complicated all the same.
What advice would you offer others trying to break into Cosplay?
Cosplay a character you love. Push your skills and make them grow stronger. Do not be afraid to ask for help. This community is full of people who have been in the same boat. Stay confident, this is your cosplay.
