At the conclusion of The Defenders, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), aka Daredevil, was believed to be dead after sacrificing himself to save New York City. Of course, a little tease at the end of The Defenders made sure to let us know that Murdock had survived and was in the care of the priests and nuns who raised him, providing a little tease that maybe the upcoming third season of Daredevil might follow some of Frank Miller‘s Born Again storyline. Now we have the trailer for Daredevil‘s third season, one that sees Matt Murdock struggling with his battle against the darkness as Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) is released from prison on house arrest after making a deal.
Other classic characters in the saga of the Man Without Fear return, including Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and Franklin “Foggy” Nelson (Elden Henson). New characters are going to make their way into Daredevil’s violent world in Hell’s Kitchen, including Sister Maggie (Joanne Whalley), Rahul “Ray” Nadeem (Jay Ali), and Benjamin Poindexter (Wilson Bethel). If that last name sticks out to you, it’s because that’s an alias having been employed by a certain-arch nemesis of our hero. Behind the scenes, Erik Oleson takes over showrunning duties for the third season from the duo of Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez, who took over the second season from Steven S. De Knight.
Daredevil has been the best of Marvel’s Netflix shows and here’s hoping that the return of Matt Murdock and his masked alias mark a return to form for the union for the streaming giant and the comic book behemoth, especially after that last season of Iron Fist. Check out the new trailer for Season 3 of Daredevil, which will arrive on Netflix in just a few short weeks on October 19, 2018 at midnight Pacific Time.
