Become Scotland Yard’s Greatest Detective! – ‘Sherlock Holmes: Lost Detective’ Game Review

GameStop, Inc.

Ever wondered if you had the chops to become Scotland Yard’s greatest detective? Now’s your chance!

Developed by Argentinian studio The Other Guys, the popular Facebook game, Sherlock Holmes: Lost Detective, is making its mobile debut on iOS. Sherlock Holmes: Lost Detective is a hidden-object adventure game where players use their detective skills to find hidden objects, solve puzzles, gather clues, and explore different locations to solve the mystery.

100 years ago Sherlock Holmes, the greatest detective of all time, disappeared without a trace and nothing was heard of him again, until now. As a rookie agent of Scotland Yard, players will follow an intricate murder case that is more complex than meets the eye. A masked man has appeared in London and is recreating Holmes’ infamous cases. Not sure what his goals are, players have to hunt for clues and put the pieces together to solve the mystery and at your side is a hospital patient that claims to be none other than Sherlock Holmes himself.

Sherlock Holmes: Lost Detective‘s has a unique point and click exploration and investigation system that is simple and easy to learn for all ages. The challenge comes down to the player’s ability in spotting the clues found in each stage. The faster the player can find the objects listed and solve the puzzle, the higher their score. The objects and puzzles will get more difficult as the story progresses providing the player with more incentives to play and beat their scores. If that wasn’t enough, players can compare their scores to other players on the leader board to discover who the best detective really is.

Speaking as a colorblind person, I have no difficulty finding the objects. The visuals are done very well so that you do not have to squint too hard to find the objects and the point and click system is extremely accurate on selecting the objects. Players with bigger phones will have a better advantage searching for clues, but the game also has a zoom-in feature so that players with smaller screens won’t struggle. Don’t expect to always see the same list of objects when you replay a level however, the game can change things up when you least expect it.

Sherlock Holmes: Lost Detective is a nostalgic game for older players that grew up to Sherlock Holmes, Nancy Drew, and The Hardy Boys. Younger players will have their wits and reflexes tested as they learn about the greatest detective of all time. Overall, Sherlock Holmes: Lost Detective is a great game to download for mobile devices, but is unfortunately only available for Apple devices, for now. The best part about the game however is that it’s free, so head over to the app store to download Sherlock Holmes: Lost Detective and see if you have what it takes to outwit the masked man.
