Marvel: The Universe Unites

Of course, you’ve come across today’s big news that Marvel Studios have bumped up the release of the highly anticipated third Avengers movie, Infinity War, will be landing in theaters a week early on April 27, 2018. Marvel and their ongoing onslaught of movies have dominated the pop culture landscape since 2008 and their 10th year in operation might be their biggest yet with Black Panther dominating the box office and cultural conversation and with Infinity War representing the culmination of a decade of movies.

The pop culture juggernaut of Marvel isn’t content to simply entertain the masses, which brings us to Marvel: The Universe Unites, a charity program spearheaded by the comic and movie giant which, according to the press release, “brings the cast of Avengers: Infinity War together in a series of #HeroActs and social media challenges to raise funds and awareness for foundations that support children and families impacted by serious illness.”

Sebastian Stan, Karen Gillan and Paul Bettany announced the program this week on Good Morning America.

Then today, Spider-Man himself, Tom Holland surprised children at a hospital in Los Angeles, bringing with him an assortment of Infinity War Funko Pops to the Starlight Children’s Foundation. “These kids are real-life super heroes – it was an inspiring experience to spend some time with them and deliver the first batch of toys from Funko,” Holland said. “I’m honored to be a part of such an incredible cast and to support this great campaign that aims to bring joy to the lives of hospitalized children and their families.”

You, too, can join in the charity of Marvel: The Universe Unites. Saturday, March 3rd, Amazon will be pitching in their support of the program with a Wish List where the items will be donated to the Starlight Children’s Foundation. Also starting on Saturday, March 3rd, Disney will donate 10% of weekend sales of Marvel products to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and that runs through Sunday, March 4th.

Now’s your chance to join in the actors who play heroes and be a hero yourself and help children in need as part of Marvel: The Universe Unites before Avengers: Infinity War unfolds on April 27, 2018.

More information on Marvel: The Universe Unites:

The week-long event kicked off with a social media challenge for the stars of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War. Cast members received special toy care packages filled with new products celebrating their Marvel character to be donated to children’s hospitals. Their mission? To create a picture or video to reveal the new toys to fans and post on social media with the goal of collectively reaching a million likes. The Super Heroes moved at record speed with their #HeroActs posts and reached the goal in less than 24 hours, unlocking a $250,000 donation to Starlight Children’s Foundation.

Super Heroes lending their support in this campaign include:
  • Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow)

  • Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier)

  • Karen Gillan (Nebula)

  • Paul Bettany (Vision)

  • Mark Ruffalo (Hulk)
