Ash vs. Evil Dead is back and as bloody as ever. Ahead of this week’s latest episode, “The Morgue,” which finds Ash (Bruce Campbell) not only confronting his complicated past but entering into some messy situations with recently deceased, Starz has unveiled a set of new clips from this week’s splatter fest.
Though I’d argue that “The Morgue” was the first episode of Ash vs. Evil Dead that I didn’t flat-out love, it still has its moments and, of course, oodles of blood spattering each and every possible direction as it pushes the boundaries of good taste and then blasts its head off with a double-barreled shotgun.
Before diving into the clips, today also brings us great news for fans of Ash vs. Evil Dead, it was announced today at New York Comic-Con that adventures won’t end when the second season concludes. Oh no, buster, there’s no cliffhangers here. Ash vs. Evil Dead has been renewed for a third season, which marks the second time the show has been renewed before concluding its current season. (As a matter of fact, Ash vs. Evil Dead was renewed for its second season before the first episode even aired!)
The first clip takes us into Ash’s old bedroom, complete with neon signs for Shemp’s Beer, one of many loving homages to the Three Stooges that are scattered throughout the iconic horror series.
The second clip features Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) being confronted by Sheriff Thomas Emery (Stephen Lovatt), who has zero trust for Ash due to the infamy of the reluctant hero as the sole survivor from that deadly trip to that cabin in the woods. As all this goes on, there’s Ash with his trademarked incompetence searching for the fabled Necronomicon, the cause of the evil plaguing Ash’s hometown.
Ash vs. Evil Dead airs Sundays at 8pm only on Starz. Co-starring with Bruce Campbell in the horror-comedy series is Ray Santiago, Dana DeLorenzo, and Xena herself, Lucy Lawless.
