2018 is shaping up to be the biggest year yet in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’re just weeks away from Black Panther, and early buzz on the film ecstatic. Just months after our first trip to Wakanda, Marvel will be bringing the highly anticipated Avengers: Infinity War to the screen. For those wondering just how the MCU will shape up after the events of Infinity War won’t have to wait too long, as the Marvel machine just keeps on chugging along as Ant-Man and the Wasp, Peyton Reed’s sequel to 2015’s Ant-Man, lands in theaters on July 6, 2018.
Today brings the first teaser for Ant-Man and the Wasp, and it looks like Peyton Reed is sticking to what makes Marvel stand out in the highly competitive blockbuster landscape – impeccable casting, big action, and a lively sense of humor. Though Ant-Man and the Wasp is easily the least anticipated of this year’s Marvel fare – it is Ant-Man after all – the charms of Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, and Evangeline Lilly should be enough to continue Marvel’s winning streak with critics and audiences alike.
Also returning from the first Ant-Man are Michael Peña, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Tip “T.I.” Harris, and David Dastmalchian. Newcomers to the MCU in Ant-Man and the Wasp include Laurence Fishburne, Michelle Pfeiffer, Walton Goggins, Hannah John Kamen, and Randall Park.
Even though expectations are muted, at least in terms of Marvel fanfare, Ant-Man and the Wasp still has enough promise that it should easily be another hit to emerge from the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe. I mean, any movie where a giant Pez dispenser dispatches a bad guy can’t be entirely bad. The future of the MCU in the wake of Infinity War will be given some guidance once Ant-Man and the Wasp sneakily crawls into theaters on July 6, 2018.
