Beginning in February, ancient treasures will be revealed and fans will be able to add some Yu-Gi-Oh Lost Art Cards to their collection
Apparently, since the beginning of Yu-Gi-Oh!, there has been some lost art of some of the most powerful cards ever printed that we have never seen. By we, I mean us here in North America. Beginning in February, one of six previously never before seen Yu-Gi-Oh Lost Art Cards will become available at participating KONAMI Official Tournament Stores.
These Yu-Gi-Oh Lost Art Cards hark back to the original Yu-Gi-Oh! animated series and its pervading Egyptian theme, and all used by Yugi, technically. The six Lost Art Cards are Monster Reborn and all five pieces of the unstoppable Exodia (I said, “technically,” because Exodia never makes its way back to Yugi’s deck after Weevil tosses them overboard). These cards have been available in Asia for nearly two decades with special card art that was never released outside of that continent. But thanks to The Lost Art Promotion at Official Tournament Stores, these cards will soon be available worldwide!
“The Lost Art Promotion begins in February, duelists who spend a minimum of $30 (before sales tax) on Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG products at Official Tournament Stores will receive a free “lost art” promotional card with their purchase (while supplies last). The Lost Art Promotion will span six months, and a different promotional card will be available each month.
Participants in The Lost Art Promotion will receive a special copy of an Ultra Rare Monster Reborn, featuring the original 1999 artwork, never before released outside of Asia and pre-dating the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME’s release in North America! Over the following five months, Duelists will be able to get Exodia the Forbidden One, Left Arm of the Forbidden One, Right Arm of the Forbidden One, Left Leg of the Forbidden One, and Right Leg of the Forbidden One from the Lost Art Promotion, also with their 1999, never-seen-outside-of-Asia artwork.
Enthusiasts of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! animated series and the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME have waited for over fifteen years to see Monster Reborn and the five pieces of Exodia printed with their original card arts. Soon they’ll be able to get those special cards simply by purchasing Yu-Gi-Oh! products at a participating Official Tournament Store. For more information about the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME The Lost Art Promotion, please visit the FAQ.” [via KONAMI]
As a huge fan of creating character decks, this is bad news for my wallet. I mean I already have like 3 and a half sets of Exodia and double-digit copies of Monster Reborn, but I’m looking through what I can round up $30 of. This is my plan so far:
February: 4 – Extreme Force Special Edition Boxes
March: Kaiba Legendary Collection
April: Kaiba Portfolio, Duel Box, Card Sleeves, and Boosters of whatever I don’t have.
I haven’t even seen the Lost Art Cards yet… I might not even like them. I’ve liked most of them, but the Thousand Dragon Variant is the only example of one I haven’t. So, it is possible. Also, I have to find a KONAMI Official Tournament Store, as I don’t play in tournaments I have no idea where they are at the moment. Anyway, I’ll share pics as soon as I find them. Until then, plan your purchases accordingly.
