EA and Hazelight announce a Friends Pass Free Trial for co-op adventure game, A Way Out
Co-Op Gaming is my favorite type of gaming. For me, it started with Turltes in Time. Sitting on a couch and beating a game with your friends is, in my mind, one of the greatest experiences you can have in gaming. Unfortunately, most games don’t focus on that anymore. Aside from Nintendo, most games focus on you being on your own and connecting with people online. But really, the focus is to have everyone buy a copy of the game. Thankfully, A Way Out is here to fix the ship! A Way Out is not only designed to be a couch co-op game, it is taking into account that a lot of times couching it isn’t possible. A Way Out, or more EA and Hazelight, is introducing the Friend Pass!
The Friend Pass will allow your friend to play the full game of A Way Out with you, without having to purchase the game themselves. Ideally, your friend would split the costs with you, but that’s really a personal conversation you have to have with your friend. Personally, I think this is the greatest development in gaming since wireless controllers. It really shows Hazelight’s understanding of the nature of co-op gaming, and shows their love of the genre. Co-op gaming is a gaming past time that has been largely neglected. Most companies design their games to require that siblings in the same household have their own copies and consoles. That is a travesty! Thankfully, Hazelight, not only designed a game for that but also created the Friend Pass to address it.
On top of the greatest gaming development since wireless controllers, A Way Out looks to be a genre-defining game for co-op gaming. The parallel/intertwining gameplay looks to create two separate games woven into one. I can’t way to play this game. Co-op gaming will always have a special place in my heart and Hazelight seems to truly understand. A Way Out is set to release in 2018 and can be pre-ordered now for Origin (PC), PS4, and Xbox One.
